Eric and I live in a really beautiful neighborhood that we have no business being in. Seriously, the house next to us looks like it’s straight out of Better Homes and Gardens, down to the adorable shutters and trendy gutter drain. (Yes, really.) And then there’s our house. The Ugly rental Duckling of the street. Peeling paint, shabby doorstep, and now a dead lawn to boot. That can happen when you forget to water it …for months at a time.

I somehow just found out that Northern California is in a drought, so no one is supposed to be watering their lawns anyway. Hopefully all my neighbors noticed, and instead of thinking we were bad housekeepers thought, Hey, way to save the planet. (also, try not to be disgusted that I didn’t know my own state was in a drought. I have a hard time watching the news.)

In other watery-related news, all of the soap dispensers in my house are empty. Every. Single. One. We’re even past the point of adding a little water to the last teaspoon of soap to stretch it out further. When I use the bathroom I walk all the way to the kitchen to wash my hands, only to remember that that soap dispenser is also empty, and that’s when I resort to using dish soap. #firstworldproblems I also want to point out that in the time it took me to type this paragraph, I could have filled every dispenser in the house 3 times. What’s wrong with me??

Check out these little guys. I felt so proud of myself for even remembering to make you something for the Super Bowl, but I guess I should have posted this last week since apparently the party started last Sunday. I don’t watch much TV, but Eric had the Niners game on (sniff…I’ll pretend to care for my family’s sake) and they kept showing lame commercials with famous people. I asked Eric what was with all the completely nonsensical unfinished commercials, and he told me that they are teaser commercials for the Super Bowl. Teaser commercials! I don’t know whether to be impressed or disgusted.

Whether you will be religiously watching the game or just gorging on cheesy-carby food while sitting in the same room with everyone else (this is me), you should definitely add these little rolls to your menu. They are so easy and so…well, bacon. What more do I have to say? I don’t think we will ever run out of things to put inside these magical crescent rolls, and for that I am forever grateful. This recipe only has 3 ingredients, 4 if you count the chives I threw on top in an attempt to make them look a little more grown-up. So easy! But just in case you need help with easy things (like filling soap dispensers), there are some how-to shots below.

Bacon & Pepper-Jack Stuffed Crescent Rolls

Bacon & Pepper-Jack Stuffed Crescent Rolls

Yield: Makes 8 rolls


  • 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 8 half-sticks of Pepper-Jack cheese, from a block
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • dried chives, optional


  1. Cook the bacon until crisp and then chop or crumble it.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 F.
  3. Cut the pepper-jack into pieces that are about half the size of a stick of cheese. You could also just halve pepper-jack string cheese, if you can find it.
  4. Unroll the dough. Place about a tablespoon of bacon on the wide end of the dough, then top with a stick of cheese. Roll them up and seal the edges so that all the cheese doesn't ooze out.
  5. Place seam side down on a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper or a silpat. Sprinkle with dried chives, if you want.
  6. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve by themselves or with ranch or marinara sauce for dipping.

    Ahhh these look so good! Cheese and bacon in a crescent? Yesah please! I have hard time getting into twitter too. I’m also terrible at Facebook, I’m trying to be better because it’s a great way to build your viewership and connect with other bloggers, but I find myself just not having enough time to fully devote myself to every social media outlet. Ughhhh..

      I’m so glad I’m not the only one Nicole! And I hear you about the time thing. Social media is a huge time sucker. It can be a little overwhelming, especially since there are so many mediums now. AND we’re supposed to cook and take beautiful photos. Ha! :)

    I hate when the soap dispensers run out! That’s when I bust out the bar soap. And not cutesy guest bathroom style bar soap. I mean a big hunk of Dove bar soap that I use in the shower. Classy me. Better than nothing?

    I suck at Twitter too, so you’re not alone. If you figure it out, let me know. Haha!

    And these crescent rolls look so good! And here I decided to cut back on carbs starting yesterday. But I can indulge a little if it’s for the Superbowl right? I mean, it’s not like I’m there for the football. We all know I’m there for the food. And the commercials.

      Okay Natalie well at least you’re using bar soap and not admitting to the internet that I’m basically washing my hands with bubbly water. Oops.

      And I will let you know if I figure out this Twitter thing! I followed you back! I just realized that you followed me a while ago. I couldn’t remember my Twitter password and was too lazy to reset it, so I haven’t been on in forever. That’s how into it I am! hehe.

      And you decided to cut back on carbs THIS WEEK?? When we’re about to have a dip party?? I mean, a football party?? Right… :)

    I spent over thirty years not even caring about the Superbowl, but then my son became a football fanatic and my quiet, football free existence disappeared. Now I volunteer to host the party so I have a chance to try out new Pinterest recipes. I should have a jersey made that says “Pinterest #1” on it.

    Pick and choose your social media. :) I go through phases where I use Twitter, but I am FAR from a regular Tweeter. And if I could figure out how to delete my Google+, I would, because I don’t have any desire to figure out how to use it.

      I like your philosophy, Claire, I think I am going to start picking and choosing! I’m glad I never bothered starting a Google+ account, it doesn’t really seem to be going anywhere. Or at least I don’t know because I’m not there! Haha. I’ll keep it that way.

      Oh don’t even get me started on the laundry basket Laura. I have 2 sitting at the foot of my bed right now. And they will always be there, until they make a folding machine that will someday reside in every modern home right next to the dryer. I should invent that. I’d make millions.

    Awesome, this is going to be snack #1 for my Superbowl party! A party which may consist of just me and dad – but hey, more stuffed crescent rolls for us!

      Hey Emma! You can find this in the grocery store where they sell all the refrigerated canned biscuits. Pillsbury is a popular brand, I always use a generic brand because I’m cheap :) It comes in a long thin tube and it is just called Crescent roll dough, or something similar. Hope this helps!! (You can also do an image search for refrigerated crescent roll dough).

    These look yummy! I have finicky kids who don’t like pepper jack. Could I sub with some mozzarella cheese maybe?
    On a side note, I just bought one of those lysol automatic soap dispensers with the soap refill cartridges. Yeah, we’ll see how often I remember to buy those!

      Hey Sarah! Yes, you could sub any kind of cheese you want! It would be super easy, just use cheese sticks cut in half.

      And good luck with your soap cartridges. It’s gotta be better than my watery soap!!
